Prairieland Home Care is a full service home health agency that is affiliated with Prairieland Private Duty. Prairieland Home Care offers physician-ordered, skilled care for homebound patients in Nursing, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, or Occupational Therapy. Prairieland Private Duty is affiliated with St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley, IL. St. Margaret’s offers many services, such as:

St. Margaret’s Health Support Programs - include support groups for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Rainbows (for children who have lost a parent), Rebound breast cancer support group, Turning Point (for persons affected by HIV and AIDS), Visions (for the visually impaired), Autism support, Hepatitis C, Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-ANON and many more. St. Margaret Health Durable Medical Equipment– provides home medical equipment. Located in Spring Valley. For more information call 815-664-4663.

Medicare/Insurance Claims Assistance - Senior Health Insurance Program offers free Medicare claims assistance from trained volunteers the first and third Monday of each month from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Also, free insurance claims assistance is offered every Monday through Friday. Call 815-664-1575 for more information or to make an appointment.

Para-Transit - provides transportation for a minimal charge to elderly or disabled residents who need transportation to and from the hospital or medical appointments. Wheelchair accessible. Headquartered out of Spring Valley. For more information, or to make an appointment, call 815-664-5411.

Meals on Wheels - Delivers nutritious already- prepared meals five days a week to people in their homes. They currently serve people living within the city limits of Peru, LaSalle and Oglesby. For more information call the Illinois Valley Red Cross at 815-223-0922.

Putnam County Achievement Services, Inc. - This organization lends out durable medical equipment for free to those in need. This is available for people of any age. For more information, call 815-339-2711.

Mendota Area Senior Services - this senior center provides lots of helpful servics for people 60 years and over, like transportation in and around the Mendota area, information assistance for programs like Circuit Breaker and Medicare/ Medicare Supplements, and also offer senior activities like cards and bingo. They are also able to provide wheelchair transportation to outlying areas. You can reach them at: 815-539-9673.

Bureau County Senior Citizens Association - provides senior services, such as planned shopping trips, assistance with Circuit Breaker/Medicaid services, loaner medical equipment and other activities, such as bingo and card games. Located in Princeton. You can reach them at: 815-879-3981.

Illinois Valley Adult Day Services - Located at 1020 Second St. in LaSalle. They provide day care for older adults who can no longer stay at home alone but don’t require nursing home care. The adult day care center is open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call (815) 223-0891.

Illinois Valley Community Hospital Support Programs - include support groups for Possibilities (Depression and Bipolar support), Sister Support (breast cancer), Grief Recovery, Alzheimer’s and Caregivers’ support, Fibromyalgia and Arthritis, Epilepsy, Gastric Bypass, Multiple Mischief, and Anxiety Disorders.
